January 11, 2008 20:02 - Resume Writing Tips & Tricks For January

Apologies for not publishing anything in December, but it is a quiet time for job seeking and I needed to take a break myself. I hope you all enjoyed the holiday season and wish you well in your careers for 2008.

Here are this months tips:

1) A one column resume layout is much more traditional. This type of format would be more appropriate for use when applying for a position in a conservative job market.

2) Resume software can be very beneficial; however it can also be detrimental. It is up to the job seeker to seriously weigh the advantages and disadvantages.

3) The Heading - Your resume should start with the heading. You can list your basic details so the employer can contact you. You can include your name, address, telephone number and e-mail address.

4) Special Skills - This section of the resume can include additional skills such as fluency in a foreign language.

Good luck in your job search.
